Collector Notes:
Inspired by the spray-painted, rusted metal walls that line the streets neighboring the artist’s studio in Somerville, Patina interprets humanity as a symbol of impermanence. Just as each layer of spray paint depicts a human leaving their mark on the world, each new layer of this piece obscures what came before, becoming part of the surface’s evolving history. Rust that can appear somber from afar is upon closer inspection a tapestry of deep reds, vibrant oranges, and dark umbers. Creation and decay become inherently intertwined, revealing how impermanence is essential to transformation.
